Why we give.
Generosity is a Kingdom principle. God is rich toward us, and He calls us to be rich toward Him as well (Luke 12:16–21). One of the ways we express our generosity toward God is by giving to Him through the local church.
Jesus spoke more about money and possessions than He did about heaven and hell because the way we handle them reveals the condition of our hearts. He taught, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). What we do with our finances reveals what we value, trust, and treasure most.
As followers of Jesus, we desire to glorify and worship God with every area of our lives—including our finances. Giving, then, is more than a financial transaction; it is an act of worship, an expression of trust, and a response to the generosity God has first shown toward us.
